The Inland Revenue Board of Malaysia (IRB) has issued a final reminder that the e-Filing deadline for the Year of Assessment 2024 (YA 2024) for resident individuals not engaged in business expires tomorrow.

Who Needs to File?

The requirement applies to:

  • Resident individuals (including knowledge workers, skilled professionals, and non-citizens in key positions)

  • Non-resident individuals (knowledge workers)

  • Organizations

  • Estates of deceased persons

  • Hindu joint families

How to File?

Taxpayers can submit their e-Forms via:

  1. e-Filing through the MyTax Portalhttps://mytax.hasil.gov.my

  2. IRB’s official websitehttps://www.hasil.gov.my > MyTax > Perkhidmatan ezHasil > e-Filing

Key Reminders

✔ Report all income accurately in the e-Form.
✔ Pay taxes on time to avoid penalties.
✔ Update personal & banking details for smooth tax refunds.

Consequences of Non-Compliance

⚠ Late Submission:

  • Fine of RM200–RM20,000

  • Up to 6 months’ imprisonment (or both) under Section 112(1) of the Income Tax Act 1967

⚠ Delayed Payment:

  • 10% surcharge on payable tax under Section 103(3)

The IRB warns that failure to submit returns or declare actual income may lead to enforcement action. Taxpayers are urged to file immediately to avoid penalties.
